Segway recall and what not to do
Okay, by now everyone's heard of the recall of the Segway...except maybe Segway. If you check their site at www.segway.com, you'll find nothing but the normal marketing spiel, except for this one link. Basic marketing and PR classes tell you to 'fess up, right up front. Especially when only 6,000 of the units have sold since the first of the year and with all the hype in the media, folks will be coming to your website. The company had originally predicted 50,000-100,000. (http://news.com.com/2009-1040-994541.html?tag=nl). And yes, even though the units have been recalled, the U.S. Postal Service, National Parks Service and several law enforcement agencies are still evaluating the Segway's usefulness.
